A Dental Implant is a titanium screw (like a tooth root) that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows your dentist to mount replacement teeth or a bridge into that area. An implant doesn't come loose like a denture can. After the placement of the Implant your dentist will have to design and place a Dental Crown which is the tooth like structure acting as your natural tooth. The crown is attached to the Dental Implant with an " Implant Abutment" which is usually welded with the Implant and bonded/screwed to the Dental Crown. This reinforces the Dental Implant structure to act like a natural tooth.
